Family Promise of Greater Wichita is very pleased to announce the selection of Jacqueline Cook Green as Executive Director. Jacqueline will be joining us beginning September 23, ahead of our program opening date of October 24. Her role as Director will include case management and resource connections for guest families, as well as coordinating all operational aspects of the program – host and support congregations, volunteers, community partners, day center, and transportation – to provide a caring and excellent experience for the families we serve.Executive Director

Our Hiring Committee and Board of Directors has been extremely impressed with Jacqueline’s knowledge, experience, and most importantly, her compassionate heart to further our mission: to unite hearts and hands to provide shelter, meals, and compassionate assistance to homeless children and their families in the Wichita area. We know our impact will be greater with her on the team.

Jacqueline comes to us from Kansas Appleseed Center for Law and Justice, where she most recently served as an advocate on their Children’s Hunger Project.  Her advocacy work focused on the statewide expansion of the Summer Food Service Program, which serves meals to children during summer break when free and reduced school lunch is not available.

Jacqueline’s experience in the nonprofit sector spans more than a decade and includes a previous executive director position with Family Promise of Collin County, a Texas affiliate. Family Promise affiliates nationwide share a mission to provide food, shelter and support services to homeless families with children. In her previous leadership role with Family Promise of Collin County, she developed and implemented initiatives for transportation and affordable housing that directly impacted the self-sufficiency levels of the families served. She worked at the coalition level to increase awareness of economic issues surrounding family homelessness and to advocate for legislation that protected economically fragile families.

Jacqueline holds a B.A. in Human Behavior and Development.  She is a U.S. Army Veteran and native Kansan who was born in Salina, raised in Butler County, and now calls Wichita home.

Jacqueline is enthusiastic about this new role as Executive Director: “Family Promise is an amazing program that profoundly impacts families in a homeless circumstance by creating opportunities for them to regain housing, dignity and hope. I am very excited about the impact Family Promise will have in the Wichita community. I have seen firsthand what this program can accomplish, and I know it changes lives.”

This is an important step in our progress toward opening day! Thanks to all who have contributed time, funding, and prayers to this hiring effort, and to all our opening needs.
