Family Promise Virtual Locker
The Family Promise Locker has gone Virtual! The Family Promise Virtual Locker is a volunteer-led furniture and supplies ministry. Donated supplies and housewarming bundles can be dropped off at the day center, M-F, 8am – 5pm. Donated furniture is picked up and delivered to guests on an as-needed basis as they graduate. In an effort to wisely manage our resources, we will no longer store furniture for future use.
When families successfully leave Family Promise for a place of their own, they oftentimes are starting over from scratch. We try to connect them with good quality used furniture to supplement what they may have stored. Additionally, saved income from their time with Family Promise is usually in place to help with moving and household set-up expenses, particularly any required deposits and the first month of rent. Even so, moving and household set-up expenses tend to add up quickly, and may deplete savings. We are often approached by individuals and groups who want to do something tangible to help the families we serve.
Creating a housewarming bundle is a great way to celebrate with a successful family and ease their burden as they transition back to life on their own. For more information on putting together a housewarming bundle, click here.
As families graduate, we are glad to pick up and deliver the following gently used items as needed:
- Beds- frames, mattresses, and box springs
- Kitchen Tables and Chairs
- End tables, night stands
As supply needs at the day center come up and as families graduate, their furniture needs will be posted in the Family Promise Virtual Locker facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/401301626735402/. Join this group for updates. A list of day center supply needs can also be found on our Wishlist.
Furniture Partnership with His Helping Hands
We have also teamed up with His Helping Hands to provide service to our donors and families while using this collaboration to keep our costs low and maximize resources to both Family Promise and His Helping Hands. If you need to donate furniture items between graduates, or if our pick-up cannot happen as quickly as you need, then His Helping Hands will gladly take your donation and graduate families will be able to shop the HHH warehouse when moving into their new homes. Any donations that our families can’t use will also be passed on to His Helping Hands to support the amazing work they do to support families in our community. This partnership allows many families to move into furnished homes, ready to pursue their goals and dreams and those of their children!
