Who are these Heroes we keep talking about?

The theme for this year’s Gala Fundraiser is Heroes: Changing the Story for Homeless Families.

We are celebrating the many different contributions and types of heroes we have witnessed, as our community has come together to combine resources and offer families a partnership out of a homeless circumstance.

Brave families

We celebrate the courage of those moms, dads, and children who seek out help, not just for the short term but to write a whole new story. Our program is rigorous and directed towards helping families achieve their goals.

Volunteers and staff

These are people from Host and Support Congregations, community members, and local individuals who are passionate about walking together with our families. Volunteer heroes serve by driving, administrative, spending time with guest families, financial coaching, furniture delivery, on boards and teams, making delicious meals, and more.

Community partners

Wichita is full of generous people doing wonderful things! We are very pleased to have Officer Nate Schwiethale, of the Wichita Police Department’s innovative Homeless Outreach Team, as our guest speaker for the evening. Officer Nate and his team specialize in connecting homeless friends with local resources. Many other agencies and nonprofits in town collaborate with us to serve our families.

Please join us to celebrate our heroes at our November 4 Gala, and throughout Family Promise Week October 22-29.

Family Promise of Greater Wichita unites hearts and hands to provide compassionate hospitality and empower homeless families with children to achieve sustainable independence. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
